The Advanced Research Center in Fundamental Physics of the Autonomous University of Madrid (CIAFF-UAM) was established on April 27, 2017, with the aim of promoting excellence in the core areas of Experimental Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, and Nuclear Physics, as well as enhancing their multidisciplinary aspects. Later, two transversal areas were added — Artificial Intelligence and Microelectronics — to foster synergies and multidisciplinary approaches among the core areas, along with a new core area, Quantum Technologies. This expansion has allowed the Center to engage in new scientific and technological challenges, including the development of instrumentation and computational techniques.
Currently, the Center comprises 29 doctoral members, most of whom are permanent professors from three UAM departments (Theoretical Physics, Applied Physics, and Computer Engineering) and 24 PhD students.
