The “On-Si” initiative, led by members of the CIAFF Microelectronics research group, has been awarded with the Most Innovative Project Award in the UAM Entrepreneurship Program for Researchers. This accolade was announced on July 9 during a presentation of eight entrepreneurial proposals in the field of Materials and Industrial Processes, held under the umbrella of the "UAM Emprende" initiative.
The team behind “On-Si” is formed by the CIAFF researchers Basilio Javier García Carretero, María Jesús Hernández Muñoz, María Ángela Pampillón Arce, and Manuel Cervera. Their project aims to develop virtual substrates of gallium phosphide on silicon (GaP on Si), a promising technology intended to facilitate the integration of photonic and electronic components onto a single silicon-based platform.
